Spitfires

This summer we  decided to let Sawyer play soccer! We joined the OFC (Omaha Futbal Club) and committed to Monday night games and Saturday morning practices. Being from Brazil, I have always wanted Sawyer to get into soccer because it's in his blood :) We ended up on a GREAT team! The kids all got along wonderfully, coach Jen was really sweet and the other parents were great to sit and watch with!

(One of the parents came up to me halfway through the season and says, "Did you used to work at Starbucks like six years ago? I have been trying to remember for weeks now where I recognized your voice from and it dawned on me that you used to work the drive through at the Starbucks that I always went to!
And I remember that you were pregnant with Sawyer while you were working there!") So Crazy!

For this age group it was one hour games, three on three, no goalie, each team had two goals (they spent quite a bit of each game confused as to which was theirs and making goals in the wrong nets) and would play for four minute intervals before they would switch out. It all worked really well because everyone got tons of playing time and over the course of the season, learned the basic scheme and technique of the game. Sawyer LOVED it!

Sawyer, Keegan (next to Sawyer) and Henry (top right) were known as 'The Spitfires'! The three of them stuck together and tried to go in together as much as they could.
They were the ones that really hit the ground running, hustled, and scored most of the goals :)

They had a team party at a park to celebrate the end of the season and the boys had blast stuffing their faces full of food, running around like crazy and throwing water balloons!

The twin girls in the back are Keegan's older sisters and they were so sweet! They would always stand on the sidelines and cheer for Sawyer! "Go Sawyer Go!!!!" That's right, my son had personal cheerleaders. What a stud!

A couple more 'firsts'.....

First time at Nana & Papa's House

"And look where they leave me?!?"
Being as how Raylan was looking just slightly jaundice, we took every opportunity to lay him in the sun! It didn't take Nana Kathy more than five minutes to have his outfit halfway off and him basking i the afternoon rays!

First time rockin' out!

Uncle Alex got a sweet new pair of head phones from Bill and Raylan was the first in line to check those bad boys out.
Don't you just loooove face phones? :)

First 'Boys in Bows' Picture

At every family gathering that includes gifts (which is pretty much every single gathering) it is a tradition for all the boys to wear the bows off the gifts and get a ceremonial picture. (Raylan, sorry dude, but you and Papa are looking a bit girly with your side bows next to the other three ninjas...)

First time at the park...

We have this great park down the hill from our house that we like to go to quite a bit and Sawyer was so excited to take Raylan! Sawyer is getting to be quite the little bike rider too! He and Bill usually ride their bikes down and we haven't had any major wipe outs yet! (knock on wood!)

First Date!

We met some friends for a morning at the park and then went out to lunch! (We went to this really classy joint called Burger King) This is my friend Laney's little one, Bella who is now betrothed to Raylan.....Looks like they really hit it off...what a snooze fest!

First Bath

I always love 'First Baths' :) Technically he had his first one at the hospital, but I'm not counting that one! I love how he has no idea what is about to happen......life is gooood....then......

OH MY GOSH! I HATE THIS!

Sawyer thought it was hilarious that Raylan hated the bath so badly and pretty much chuckled through the whole thing! I know it looks like we washed him with that hand soap that's laying there, but have no fear-we didn't.

But in the end it was all worth it! All for that baby clean smell!

Welcome to the world, Raylan!

It's been forever since my last posting. You know it. I know it. Let's just not talk about it. On top of that, when I signed in to send out a quick post, it turns out that Blogger when out and changed up the whole format and I have no idea how to use it! So that is the reason for weird placement, odd sized pictures and anything else that goes wrong. I'm blaming it all on Blogger.

Alrighty then, now that that's taken care of, let's get on with it! Now what was the last major event that I could talk about......hmmmmmmm.....oh yeah! We had a baby! (Well actually I had a baby, but I don't want to steal the spot light so I'll let Bill be included in the royal 'we'.)

Morning of Raylan's birth: Contractions started at 2:30 a.m. We left for the hospital about 4:45 a.m. Stopped at Starbucks for coffee on the way. Checked in at 5:30 a.m. The only thing I was allowed to eat was Jell-O and Italian ice.....yummy lemon!

Raylan Derald Rollins made his grand entrance at 1:41 p.m.!
He was pink and plump and squawked like a baby bird which made him PERFECT! He was so cute!

A few hours later the visitors started rolling in :) But none was more important than the new BIG BROTHER! I don't know why I expected Sawyer to come bounding in with open arms just dying to cuddle the new baby......I mean, come on. He's five. So like any other five year old who had the rude awakening that the world no longer revolved around him, Sawyer's reaction to Raylan was a little underwhelming.....but thankfully that would change in the days to come!

These were the little favors that we handed out to everyone that can to the hospital to visit us.

We had such WONDERFUL nurses during our time there, so we brought along this basket of goodies to show our appreciation for all of their patience and sweetness!

The proud Daddy!

Raylan and I were feeling great so we were ale to go home the very next day! Since then, I have been enjoying my maternity leave (3 weeks) and now am back at work. We are adjusting to being a family of four and just loving the new little turkey!*
